Western Speedway is excited to announce a new partnership with Galaxy Motors to sponsor the popular Stock Car series. Galaxy Motors is Vancouver Island’s largest independent used car dealer. With over 25 years in business, they have grown to offer four locations on Vancouver Island, and one location in Langley. With a new series sponsor comes the anticipation of a new season in the Stock Car division, a year which promises to offer a large crop of talented rookies, and familiar faces.
Chris McInerney looks to defend his 2015 title, while drivers such as Brendan “Chopsticks” Moore, Wayne “The Train” Hart, Kyle Cottam, and Dave Reside return to try and capture the championship crown. Some older faces in familiar places yields the return of Chad Dobranski, who after a 16 year absence from the stock car class, has purchased Brandon Steen’s car, and looks to contend for main event wins.
Rookie drivers such as Meghan McCollom, Tyler Robinson, in a brand new Dale Robinson Fabrication car, Spencer Carlson, Ray Wilkinson, Bruce Duffus, and defending Bomber division champion Aaron Cameron are all looking to take home the rookie of the year crown, which promises to be a dogfight until the final checkered flag of the season.
Add in more returning drivers, such as Troy Tarbuck and Gregg Sagmoen in the 88 Sagmoen Special, Mark Lockhart, Jarrod Heap and Andrew Wilson in the 31 car, “Gentlemen” Jim Steen, Sam Lagan, and Jeremy Gardner.
Veterans Brian Clutchey, and Gord Wheeler have also committed to return and support the stock car class. Look for them to be back in full force to start the season. These two veteran drivers will surely serve as great mentors to the large rookie crop.
2016 is shaping up to be a rebound year for the Stock Car division, and with the addition of a great series partner such as Galaxy Motors, Western Speedway officials are eagerly anticipating the season opening race for the Galaxy Motors Stock Car division, on Saturday April 30th.
