This past weekend Western Speedway played host to the Wilson & Procotr Big Rig weekend, featuring the NABRA Big Rigs, LORDCO Demo Series, Loan Ranger Financial Claimers, and Richlock Rentals Capital Drift.
The first main event of the evening was for the Mini Figure 8’s, with Stephen Green starting on pole. Green led early before blowing a tire, allowing Mike Noyce to take the lead. With eight laps to go, Steve Creasy worked his way past Noyce to take the lead and the main event win. Mike Noyce, Kail Beck, Jen New, and Brenda Maber rounded out the top five. The dash win went to Mike Noyce, with heat race wins going to Steve Creasey and Kyle Ridley.
The next main event was for the Loan Ranger Financial Claimers, with Morgan Tallyn starting on pole. Tallyn led the opening lap before being passed by Curtis Boyce, who worked his way from the second to last row to first. Boyce would run away from the rest of the field, and took the main event win. Boyce swept the night, winning the dash and his heat race as well.
The next main event was for the Bombers, with Brian Calderwood and Bill Gallacher leading the field to the green. Gallacher would jump out to the early race lead, with Brian Wakelin and Dylan Ross slotting into second and third. Gallacher would be black flagged on lap eight for leaking fuel, but proceeded to ignore the flag for the next seven laps. The caution was thrown to send Gallacher into the pits, allowing Dylan Ross to take the lead on the restart. Ross fended off Tony Kambo, Brian Wakelin, Ron Noulette, and Terry Leerholm for the win. The dah win went to Dylan Ross, with heat race wins going to Stuart Campbell and Bill Gallacher.
The next to last main event of the evening was for the Demo Cars and Trucks, with Richard Morgan and Steve Jansen starting on the front row. Morgan would lead the first seven laps, before being passed by Shawn Young. Young would have his brother Cody right on his rear bumper during the last part of the race, but it would be too little too late, with Shawn winning yet another Demo main event. Dash wins went to Billy Stidston and Cody Young, with the heat race win going to Shawn Young.
The last main event of the evening was for the Big Rigs, with Jaeger Berdahl leading the field to the green. Cory Riplinger snatched the lead away on lap three, and proceeded to run away from the rest of the field, winning his first main event of the season. Riplinger also won the second heat race, with Jaeger Berdahl winning the first. The trophy dash win went to Gino Howe.
The next race at Western Speedway is Sept 2nd and 3rd for the Reg Midgley Canada 200 featuring the Keg Late Models and the BC Street Stock Challenge both nights. The Late Models will qualify and run their heat races on the Saturday night, with the 200 lap main event taking place on the Sunday.
