For the second time this season, the Straight Up Racing Monster Trucks visited Western Speedway for the Wayne’s Trucking Monster Truck Weekend. This weekend was also a double header for the LORDCO Auto Parts Demo Series, and Nexx Financial Claimers.
The first main event on Friday was for the Mini Figure 8’s, with Brenda Maber and Kyle Ridley leading the field to the green. Daryn Cahill would build up a big lead over second place Brandon Young, but with four laps to go, Young would sneak by for the lead, and the win, ahead of Daryn Cahill, Sam Lagan, Kyle Ridley, and Stephen Green. The dash win went to Rob Newell, with heat race wins going to Brandon Young and Kyle Ridley.
The Nexx Financial Claimers were the next main event, with Shane Scott and Allana Jacobs leading the field to the green. Bruce Knight, Brian Calderwood, Jeff Foley, and Ron Noulette rounded out the top five. The dash win went to Bruce Knight, with heat race wins going to Bruce Knight and Ron Noulette.
The Demo Car and Truck main event was next, with Brandon Young and Theron MacDonald leading the field to the green. Robin Trotter, subbing for Jaime Morgan, would weave his way to the front, leading all but two laps to capture his first Demo main event win of the season, followed by Shawn Young, Brandon Young, George Haywood, and Gerry Bernard. Dash wins went to Jake Matthews and George Haywood, with the heat race win going to Brandon Young.
The Bombers were the last main event of the evening, with Brian Baltis and Tony Kambo leading the field to the green. Baltis would build up a big lead in the 38 car, before the caution came out for the stalled car of Tyler Clough. On the restart with ten laps to go, Brad Aumen would make his move, snatching the lead away from Baltis, and would drive away to take his second career Bomber main event win. Brian Baltis, Brian Wakelin, Garth Armstrong, and Mike Dionne would round out the top five. The dash win went to Stuart Campbell, with heat race wins going to Brian Baltis and Tyler Clough.
The Mini Figure 8’s were first up on Saturday as well, with Maeva Legault and Rob Newell leading the field to the green. In a race that only had six out of fourteen starters finish, Sam Lagan would dominate, finishing a full lap ahead of second place Brandon Young. The Nexx Financial Claimers were up next for their main event, with Morgan Tallyn and Kail Beck leading the field to the green. Ronnie Kiefert would take the lead on the second lap, with Brian Calderwood right behind. With five laps to go, Nolan Perry lost the right front tire on his car, bringing out the caution. Kiefert held off Calderwood on the ensuing restart, and brought home his first Claimer main event win, ahead of Brian Calderwood, Bruce Knight, Doug Richens, and Dylan Hewitt. The dash win went to Gord Percival, with heat race wins going to Doug Richens and Nolan Perry.
The Demo Car and Truck main event would see Stephen Bemister and Kyle Scott lead the field to the green. Eddy Cooper would lead the way early, with Craig Holfeld slotting into second. Mike Melin would bring out the caution with five laps to go, which set up a restart. The dash wins went to Gerry Bernard and Shawn Young, with heat race wins going to Mike Melin and Brandon Young.
The Bombers wrapped up the weekend with their main event. Mike Noyce and Murray DeGraag led the field to the green. Gennifer Isles would lead briefly after the restart, before Bill Gallacher stormed past to claim the top spot. On lap twenty two, Gallacher lost a right rear tire, allowing Brad Aumen to sneak by for the win, ahead of Brian Baltis, Mike Dionne, Garth Armstrong, and Sean Whitley.
