Brandon French

Brandon FrenchMeet Brandon French

Where are you from?
North Saanich, BC

Occupation/where do you work?
I am an Automotive tech at Steve’s Service in Sidney.

Tell us about your Family
I have a wonderful wife Shawna.

What attracted you to motorsports?
I grew up watching my Dad race and fell in love with it.

What was the first vehicle you raced?
I raced some Autocross events in highschool using my Z28 Camaro. The first circle track car I raced is my current Dwarf Car

How long have you been racing?
2015 was my first season

How many different classes have you raced in?
Just the dwarf cars so far

What class do you currently compete in?
Island Dwarf car club

Who do you think the guys to beat are this year in your class?
I really hope it is me! There is some really strong competition in our class and we are going to have great car counts, so it is shaping up to be an awesome year.

What are your goals entering this season?
Winning Races is always my main goal, but I would really like to get more consistent. There are 4 different Championship Trophies up for grabs this year and I would like to put my name on all of them.

What is your favourite racing memory?
Championship Night 2015. We had a huge cheering section in the grandstands and managed to pull off a clean sweep, winning the Trophy Dash, Heat Race, and Main Event.

If you could race any other type of vehicle, what would it be?
I would definitely like to get into a Wilroc non-wing Sprint Car in the near future, and would love to try out a Late Model

Who inspires you in racing?
My Dad, Mike French. I was pretty young when he was racing, but I have some great memories of him racing at a lot of different tracks in the United States. It was always fun when he raced at Western Speedway too

Who was your favourite professional driver growing up?
Davey Allison and Dale Earnhardt Sr

Who was your favourite local driver growing up?
I always rooted for Jason Frost, Lance Wade, and the Montgomery brothers

Who are your main crew guys? How long have they been helping you?
Mike French, Ehren Frobeen, Jordan Acreman, Andrew Parsons, Shawna French, & Ron French when his car is broken

What racing achievements are you most proud of?
I am just really proud of our whole team for being competitive right out of the gate last year in our first season. We managed to win a trophy dash, 2 heat races, and a main event, to go along with a bunch of top 5 finishes. We managed to win the Western Speedway Dwarf car championship, and came home 2nd in the Island Dwarf car points, only 11 points out of 1st.

Is there anybody you would like to thank?
My Wife Shawna for putting up with all the long hours in the shop working on the car, and my Dad Mike for putting in so much time and effort helping me get the car ready and FAST. He even drives it when I can’t. My brother in law Ehren for helping me buy the car and helping improve it to the point it is today. My Mom Angela, for providing me with shop space for the car, and my crew guys Andrew and Jordan. Of course, my Sponsors and all of the FANS, without these people that support racing, we wouldn’t have a place to do what we love.
